By assembling this kit, you’ll gain hands-on experience with basic electronic components and soldering techniques, enhancing your understanding of how electronic circuits work.

Introduction to the RGB LED Color Selector

The ColorWiz project features a battery-powered RGB LED with three switches. Each switch controls one color channel (red, green, or blue) of the RGB LED. By toggling the switches, you can mix different combinations of red, green, and blue to create a wide range of colors.

Understanding the RGB LED

An RGB LED is a special kind of light-emitting diode that can emit three different colors: Red, Green, and Blue. Each of these colors can be controlled independently. By adjusting the brightness of these three primary colors, you can create a wide spectrum of colors. Here’s how it works:

  • Red, Green, and Blue Channels: The RGB LED has three separate LEDs inside it, each one capable of emitting red, green, or blue light.
  • Common Cathode: In a common cathode RGB LED, all three LEDs share a common ground connection (the longest lead). Each color can be turned on or off by connecting the respective anode to the power source.
  • Color Mixing: By combining different intensities of red, green, and blue light, you can create almost any color. For example, combining red and green light produces yellow, while combining all three colors at full intensity produces white light.
